Arts education plays a crucial function in the personal and expert growth of people and, much more broadly, the economic growth and social sustainability of neighborhoods. Its loss or decrease from the system would be enormous. And yet, despite widespread support from parents and the public, arts education still struggles to be focused on by decision-makers. Our team believe one reason the arts are not prioritized comes from a separate between the viewed value of the arts and the genuine benefits experienced by pupils. We usually listened to in our outreach that the arts are misunderstood; one listening-session individual, a leader in arts education advocacy, kept in mind that “decision-makers might have a problematic vision of what arts learning remains in their heads, and they choose based upon that vision.”
